OpenAI released the Codex desktop app for macOS, letting you manage multiple agents at once, run work in parallel, and work on long-running tasks, with temporary free access for ChatGPT Free and Go, and doubled rate limits for paid plans - The app runs agents in separate threads organized by projects with built-in worktree support so multiple agents can work on the same repo without conflicts, and picks up session history and configuration from the Codex CLI and IDE extension - Skills bundle instructions, resources, and scripts so Codex can connect to tools like Figma, Linear, and cloud hosts (Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare, Render), generate images with GPT Image, and create PDF, spreadsheet, and docx files - Automations run on a schedule with results landing in a review queue, and the app uses open-source system-level sandboxing by default, limiting agents to editing files in their folder or branch and using cached web search, with configurable rules for network access - Codex is available for ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu users with usage included in subscriptions, Windows support and cloud-based triggers coming next I have been testing the app for a while and it has become my default when using Codex for local tasks, in addition to the CLI and VS Code extension
